Was it Worth Changing the Political System? The Changes Begun in 1989 Assessed
| Coming up to the thirtieth anniversary of the partially free elections of 4 June 1989, over four fifths of the people surveyed (81%) thought that it was worth changing the political system then. The majority were very sure about this.
|
| Current assessments of the social consequences of the transformation are the most positive yet. Over two thirds of the people asked (68%) say that the changes that have taken place in Poland since 1989 have brought people more gains than losses, and 8% of these see only gains. Only one in twenty (5%) is of the opinion that the transformation brought people more losses than gains, of whom a scant 0.3% see only losses. Every tenth respondent was unable to assess the social consequences of the transformation.
