Attitudes to Czechs and Slovaks

The 17th November marks the 31st anniversary of the Velvet Revolution in Czechoslovakia. This is a good time to look back at how Polish people’s attitudes to their southern neighbours have changed over the last three decades.
Compared to 1993, people have become much better disposed towards both Czechs and Slovaks, and for years now they have been among those nations that Poles like best. In 2020 over half of the people surveyed expressed liking for them (53% for Czechs and 52% for Slovaks), while dislike was expressed by many times fewer respondents (11% and 10% respectively). This put them in first place in 2020 of the nations that Poles like best.
