Should vaccination for Covid-19 be compulsory?

Almost two fifths of those surveyed thought that Covid vaccination should be compulsory for everyone (38%, a rise of 9 percentage points on August 2021), a further 13% believed it should be compulsory only for particular groups of people, while 43% wanted it to be completely voluntary.

The groups most frequently chosen for compulsory vaccination were health service workers (99%), then teachers (90%), followed by residential care workers (85%) uniformed services (police, armed forces, fire service, prison service, border guard and others) (73%), and workers in the retail and service sectors (62% and 47% respectively). Relatively few respondents indicated other groups, e.g. the sick and the elderly, and those coming into frequent contact with other people (10% in total).

More on this subject in the CBOS report.
This ‘Current Events and Problems’ survey (381) was conducted using a mixed-mode procedure on a representative sample of named adult residents of Poland, randomly selected from the National Identity Number (PESEL) register.
Respondents independently selected one of the following methods:
– Computer Assisted Personal Interview (CAPI);
– Computer Assisted Telephone Interview (CATI), respondents receiving researchers’ telephone numbers in an introductory letter from CBOS;
– Computer Assisted Web Interview (CAWI), where respondents filled in the online questionnaire independently, gaining access by means of a login and password provided in an introductory letter from CBOS.
In all three cases the questionnaire had the same structure and comprised the same questions. The survey was carried out between 3 – 13 January 2022 inclusive on a sample of 1135 people (46.4% using the CAPI method, 33.1% CATI and 20.4% CAWI).
CBOS has been conducting statutory research using the above procedure since May 2020, stating in each case the percentage of personal, telephone and internet interviews.
