Use of Artificial Intelligence
Over a third of the people CBOS surveyed in May (36%) had made use of generative AI during the three months preceding this survey. Most often it simply served them as a source of information: according to 70% of respondents, they used AI in this period to get answers to specific questions, with one in four (25%) doing so every day or almost every day. The most common questions sought advice or tips concerning everyday matters, such as cooking, travel, organising or finances.
Generative AI was also often used as a study aid (47%) and as a help at work (45%).
Fewer people (24%) declared frequent AI use for entertainment, companionship or just to kill time. Least common were conversations of a personal nature: 72% of respondents said they never used AI in this way, while a bare 9% did so frequently.

This ‘Current Events and Problems’ survey (433) was conducted using a mixed-mode procedure on a representative sample of named adult residents of Poland, randomly selected from the National Identity Number (PESEL) register. Respondents independently selected one of the following methods: Computer Assisted Personal Interview (CAPI); Computer Assisted Telephone Interview (CATI), respondents receiving researchers’ telephone numbers in an introductory letter from CBOS; Computer Assisted Web Interview (CAWI), where respondents filled in the online questionnaire independently, gaining access by means of a login and password provided in an introductory letter from CBOS. In all three cases the questionnaire had the same structure and comprised the same questions. The survey was carried out between 7 – 17 May 2026 inclusive on a sample of 1041 people (63.6% using the CAPI method, 19.4% CATI and 17.0% CAWI). CBOS has been conducting statutory research using the above procedure since May 2020, stating in each case the percentage of personal, telephone and internet interviews.
